Majorca Restaurant - es Guix

Majorca Restaurant Guix : between Caimari and the Monastery of Lluc , near Pollensa, there is a mountain path on which travelers, pilgrims or locals can take a remarkable journey. In the old days people arrived by car at Caimari, there began the real journey, which was done on donkey or on foot.

According to Father Rafael, the archivist of Lluc, the Mallorcans who crossed the mountains to reach the monastery of Lluc as pilgrims or for work (collecting olives, charcoal burning, etc.) needed about three hours to reach the Vall de Lluc, if they knew the narrow ravines and the famous mountain passes. La Costa Llarga is the first of these passes, next comes Sa Llengonissa and the third pass is remarkable Alt d'es Guix, at this farm, just one hundred years ago, there was the gypsum quarry from which it takes its name. At the highest point of the path is the Coll de sa Batalla, or the pass of the Battle, which is said to recalls an episode from the conquest of Mallorca in the thirteenth century.

A hundred metres from here, below the crossroads where the road starts its descent into the valley, is one of the most important restaurants in the Sierra.  Surrounded by rock  outcrops and almost hidden among oak groves and wild vegetation, is a stone house set in a corner of unmatched beauty.

majorca restaurant es guix faithfully follows the traditions of the mountains.  A stone built terrace, where the silence is only broken by the songs of the birds, and a natural lake surrounded by trees complete this unique landscape. It is one of the few places named in the most important guides to Europe as a unique treasure of the island : Majorca Restaurant Guix

Mallorca Geography

Majorca has two mountainous regions each about 70 km in length. These occupy the north-western (Serra de Tramuntana or Tramuntana range) and eastern thirds of the island. The highest peak on Majorca is Puig Major (1,445 m) in the Serra de Tramuntana. As this is a military zone, the neighbouring peak at Puig de Massanella is considered the highest accessible peak (1,364 m). The northeast coast comprises two sweeping bays: the Badia de Pollença and the larger Badia d'Alcúdia. The northern coast is generally rugged and has many cliffs. The central zone extending from Palma is generally flat fertile plain known as Es Pla.

The climate is Mediterranean, with markedly higher precipitation in the Serra de Tramuntana. Summers are hot in the plains and winters mild to cool, getting colder in the Tramuntana range; in this part of the island brief episodes of snow during the winter are not unusual.mallorca restaurants mallorca restaurante mallorca accommodation mallorca meal in mallorca mallorca food restaurante en lluc lluc mallorca mallorca
